Welcome to the Eureka Pokemon League’s page!

The Pokemon Trading Card Game (PTCG) is a wonderful game built around camaraderie and good natured competition. From the customary and rule enforced handshake and “good luck” at the beginning of each match, to the enthusiasm of the players in our local meta-game, who are always happy to see a new strategy, card, or deck that completely changes the landscape of what is considered a “great” deck, there’s nothing but fun times and memories to make. Here at NuGames Eureka, we want to grow our PTCG community, and there is no better way to do that than to host events! Starting now, there will be three events every week, with one more coming up, to help our growing community focus on it’s weak points, whether that be expanding a card collection, getting to know the rules of the game, or getting into a more competitive (but not POP sanctioned) event. If playing and trading is the way in which you choose to show off your card collection and deck building skills, then Tuesdays from 3-5 PM at NuGames Eureka is the time slot for you. Five dollars gets you entry and a booster for this event! Additionally, if you are just getting into the game, and would like to focus more on garnering knowledge of the rules for play, Tuesdays are a good bet, as there are always people willing to teach and help new players grow in their understanding, and thus, grow the community’s understanding.

Also on Tuesdays, from 3-5 PM, there is a small tournament every week. Five dollars is all you need to play. This tournament focuses on developing new player’s skills with the game, while teaching ethical and proper play so that when they are ready to jump to the next level at the EPL, they will know exactly what to do and how to do it. This means that bonus points in the tournament are on offer for polite and ethical play! This is also a great option for players who just aren’t ready to commit to a month of play.

If, however, you do wish to play competitive PTCG, then the Eureka Pokemon League (EPL) is something you might want to check in to. The EPL meets Sundays every week from 3-6 PM at NuGames Eureka. A Ten dollar buy-in gets you up to a month of competitive play, depending on how many players there are. Therefore, bringing in your friends is always a good idea. Rules will be gone over at the beginning of each League Cycle, but there is a pertinent difference from the PTCG rules and the League rules. This discrepancy in rules is that no deck may contain more than two Pokemon-EX. This helps provide a more level playing field and create a more eager community. Another incentive is that if there are more people, not only do you get more rounds of play, but you also have a chance to win more and better prizes! Should you win, you will be crowned the EPL Champion! The current standings for the EPL can be seen below after each cycle starts. The newest cycle starts Sunday, April 12th, so be sure to come by and register!!

Coming soon, there will be a Humboldt Region Gym Challenge set up at NuGames Eureka! This means getting to follow in Ash’s footsteps, and beat the Gym Leader’s to win the chance to challenge the Elite Four and become a Pokemon Champion! If you would like to be one of the Eureka Region Pokemon Gym Leader’s, or even one of the fabled Elite Four, please come in on a Sunday afternoon and speak with Wyatt about the process. Alternately, you can call and leave a message at the store, and Wyatt will get back to you as soon as possible. Keep an eye on this page, where more information will be made available soon!
